Everyone is playing from the white tees
The format is 18 hole match play with the first 9 holes being a 2-man scramble and the second 9 holes being a 2-man best ball net. Any handicap strokes will be indicated on the score card. Each pairing will be Net Zero handicapped (See below).
Each match will be worth 2 points . One point for the winner of front 9, and one point for the winner of back 9. Any ties after 9 holes, that point will be halved. We will be updating the scoreboard for the front 9 as teams bring in their scorecards after completing the front 9. The back 9 will be posted once all scores have been submitted. Results will be announced at the award ceremony and the belt will be presented to the winning country.
( ONLY RECORD GROSS SCORES ON THE CARD FOR BOTH SCRAMBLES AND BEST BALL. SCORES WILL BE TOTALED IN PROSHOP)
2-Man Scramble:
(Updated) The handicaps for the scrambles are based off the USGA recommendation of using 35% of the low player and 15% of the high player.
1. Play begins with both members of the team teeing off.
2. With the agreement of both team members, decide which tee shot you would like to use.
3. The other member of the team will pick up their ball and proceed to the spot of the selected Tee shot, both players will hit their second shots from that location.
4. The best of the second shots is then chosen. The team will then hit all their putts (or third shots) from that spot.
5. This procedure continues until the ball is in the hole.
6. At the end of each hole, the score for the teams gross score is recorded on the card.
ADDITIONAL RULES FOR THE SCRAMBLE:
1. Place balls within one club length of the original ball
2. On the putting green place the ball within 3 inches of the original ball, no closer to the hole.
3. In placing the ball, you may not change the condition of the shot. If the ball is in a hazard or rough, all members of the team must play their shot from the hazard or rough, respectively.
2-Man Best Ball Net:
1. Both members of the team will play their own ball on each hole.
2. After the completion of each hole, the lowest net score will count as the team score.
3. At the end of each hole you will compare your team score against your opponent’s team score.
4. The team with the lowest score will win the hole. If a tie, no winner. (No carryovers)
5. The team that wins the most number of holes wins 1 point for their country. Ties will result in 1/2 point each.
6. The team with the most points at the end of the round will win the match.
ZERO NET HANDICAPPING (POP OFF THE LOW HANDICAP)
Handicapping for the 2-Man Best Ball is determined within the foursome (not across all event participants) with the lowest handicap within the foursome adjusted to Zero, and strokes/pops given to higher handicaps. For example if:
Player A is a +5 from the white tees;
Player B is a +8 from the white tees;
Player C is a +10 from the white tees; and,
Player D is a +12 from the white tees.
From the white tees for the 2-Man Best Ball Net would be:
Player A gets 0 strokes/pops;
Player B gets 3 strokes/pops;
Player C gets 5 strokes/pops; and,
Player D gets 7 strokes/pops.
PUTTING OUT
Players must putt out unless the hole is ceded, or your opponents “give” you the putt.
THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE!
The primary purpose of the Can-Am Clash is to have fun. Trash talking is encouraged, while taking yourself too seriously is not.
